Lou Gehrig was known for his mastery as a hitter and for his durability, which earned him his nickname "The Iron Horse." On July 4, 1939, Gehrig gave his famous "The luckiest man on the face of the earth" speech to a sold-out crowd in Yankee Stadium. Shortly after he was inducted into the Hall Of Fame.
